We leave from Barentsburg with our snowmobiles, driving over the Gronfjorden covered by a thick layer of ice and a lot of fresh snow, without tracks from other snowmobiles. |

We continue to drive over the frozen fjord. |

Soon we arrive at a view point from which we can admire the Fridtjovbreen glacier full of cracks. We park our snowmobile in a convenient point and then we continue on foot to a better view point. |

After about 20km of drive, we arrive in the front of the same glacier, and we can observe it walking comfortabily on the frozen sea. The ice is not green or blue like usual, but the shape is very nice. |

Several bear's footprints remember us that we are not alone here...

| We then continue crossing the Van Mijenjorden for all its lenght. |

After about 45km we appoarch Svea where we will spend the "night" (yes, because on April there are 24 hours of continuous daylight, without any trace of darkness, even at midnight !) |

Snowscooter excursion to Barentsburg Snowscooter trip to Barentsburg from Longyearbyen. Barentsburg is a little russian mining town, living on coal mines. The snowscooter trip takes about two hours each way. GO. |

The expedition to the most hidden parts of Svalbard starts today, driving the snowmobile from Longyearbyen to an area designed as campsite. Here, the group overnights into a small igloo, under a sky made of millions of stars and northern lights. GO. |

Spitsbergen East coast by snowmobile Snowmachine excursion to the east coast of Spitsbergen island, driving over glaciers and pack ice trapping huge icebergs. GO. |

Snowmobile from east Coast to Svea and Longyearbyen By snowscooter back to Longyearbyen, with lunch stop in Svea. Today the weather is really beautiful and the cold, together with a sun very low on the horizon, even at mid day, produce incredible sky colors going from pink, to orange, to violet, to deep blue.
