Vegetation on Bird Island Vegetation on Bird Island
This is my last day on Bird Island. Unfortunately the weather still didn't improve, but this is not a problem for me (except for the colors of the pictures). Above, the Bird Island vegetation: a forest growing on some parts of the inner island.

Even with overcast sky, the beach is still beautiful.

Bird island beach
A beautiful Bird Island beach. There are no footprints on the sand.

Seaweeds carried by a storm
I continue to walk, turning around the island and soon I discover that, near Passe Cocos, what two days ago was looking like the picture on the left, today is almost totally covered by a thick layers of seaweeds, probably carried here by the combined action of wind, tide and ocean's currents.

The new beach near Passe Cocos.

A turtle that I didn't see before. I don't know how that Noddie chicks went on the turtle's leg and why... and also why the turtle went inside the pool...

Air Seychelles flight to Bird Island
A Twin Otter is ready to bring me back to Mahe', where I will arrive at night, before continuing back to my country the following morning.

SEYCHELLES PICTURES
Alphonse island

ALPHONSE - An incredible wonder, part of the Amirantes group, about 400 Km southwest of Mahe'. Characterized by a huge lagoon and surrounded by sandy flats, it can also be used as a base for sightseeing and fly flishing trips to the nearby paradise of St. Francois, the kingdom of the mangroves and giant crabs.

La Digue island

LA DIGUE - A granitic island where the time seems frozen at the past century. Can be entirely visited by bike and with its many opportunities for hiking and trekking, offers a lot of activities for either adventurous travellers and for who prefers to relax on a beach doing swimming and snorkeling.

Paslin Island

PRASLIN - Another granitic island, home of the world's only population of Coco De Mer tree, is also characterized by many white-sand beaches and can be used as a convenient base for several daytrips to the nearby islands.

Bird Island

BIRD - A lovely paradise for bird watching and birding tours, hiking, swimming and snorkeling. Home of Esmerlada, a tortoise about 200 years old, this coralline island also hosts a colony of Sooty Terns coming here annually to feed and to grow their chicks. A large beach of pure-white sand surrounds the entire island for a circumference of about 5 kilometers.
