Reykjavik, Iceland
Reykjavik, Iceland Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik is a beautiful city counting about 110.000 residents and is the capital of Iceland. I've used Reykjavik as a base point for all my day trips, because of the airport conveniently located in a walking distance from the city's center. On the top-left picture, the structure from which I took all the other panoramic pictures.

Around the city's center of Reykjavik. The buildings are nice and colorful. There are also several lakes with a lot of hiking trail.

Nice sculptures near the city's centre.

Geothermal activity in Iceland Boliling mud pots, Iceland
Geothermal activity in Iceland

The geothermal area on the Reykjanes peninsula, about 40 kilometers from Reykjavik. Again, the Earth's crust is very thin here, and very hot underground, so I have to be very carefully while walking and do not leave the marked route for any reason.

Click HERE for a video of the mud pots (6 megabytes).

Blue Lagoon, Iceland Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Tour in the Blue Lagoon and bath. Today the temperature is +7°C but the wind chill factor is as low as +1°C. It wasn't very comfortable to take the above pictures wearing just my swimsuit... but it was an interesting experience and the next time I would like to try when it is -10°C or lower. Then, I went in the water, which has a temperature of around 40°C and spent half an hour there.
