Travel Bodo Trondheim by train

The trip from Bodo to Trondheim by NSB, the norwegian's state owned railways, lasts almost 10 hours. The train runs between spectacular scenery and, south of Bodo, crosses the arctic circle.

Bodo's downtown. This city is an important commercial and industrial center in northen Norway. The city is very modern, because was destroyed by several fires and re-built. There aren't particular attractions for tourists, but it is the ideal base for excursions to the Lofoten islands and to ride the arctic circle railway starting from Bodo and ending to Trondheim.

A train serving the Bodo - Trondheim route. The entire ride lasts 10 hours, but the seats are comfortable and the landscape is beautiful.

 

 

Shortly after departing from Bodo, the train runs along a fjord.

Then, the railway climbs slowly up to an altitude of about 700 meters, where the trees are replaced by flat tundra.

The ride continues descending again slowly to sea level, between dense forests and crystal-clear water channels.

Finally, the train reaches Trondheim, where the station is located in the downtown, near a channel of water.

Oslo is probably the least "norwegian" city of the entire Norway, as it is big and quite chaotic. Anyway, it worth a visit, because of the nice parks and the interesting museums. GO

Aalesund is a modern and picturesque city. Almost completely destroyed by a fire in the past century, Aalesund was rebuilt in european style by norwegian architects. The city has one of the most important fishing industry of the entire country. GO

The Lofoten islands are a group of islands north of the arctic circle, featured by oddly-shaped mountains with steep sides, falling straight into the sea. They are populated mainly by fisherman's living into small charming and colorful towns. GO

The most ancient part of the city is full of history and is very picturesque for the nice wooden houses and for the gothic cathedral, a symbol of the city. Trondheim is an important industrial centre, known for wood and fish processing. GO
