The tour continues with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a buddist temple (no picture is permitted inside).

The ancient wall was built around the city for defense about 600 years ago, and has a total lenght of 45 kilometers.

The following day, the tour continues with a visit to the Terracotta Warriors site and museum.

This is the first pit. It is estimated that about 7-8000 statues are buried in the ground, with only 1000 currently exavated. The others will remain buried until a technique to keep the original colors forever, will not be discovered (sadly, all the excavated statues have lost their colors).

The details are very fine and amazing. Every statue has a different face, as they were modelled by thousands of different artists. The statues may measure up to 1.90 meters in height, with a weight of 300 kilos.

 

Unfortunately, many statues were destroyed when the emperor's dynasy ceased. However, most of them are under rebuilding and maintenance.

The day continues with a visit to the hot springs, used by the emperor as winter residence.

The water has a temperature of about 43 degrees celsius and was used for baths and showers. On the left, a spring, on the right, one of the pools.
