Tour to Lhasa, Tibet - part 1
Lhasa day tour, the magnificent Potala Palace, the Jokhang temple and a short hike in the city.

The Air China's Boeing 757-200 is about to land in Lhasa, where the altitude is 3600 meters.

The trip from airport to city, lasts about one hour. Along the way, this Buddha carved in a rock can be observed.

The following morning the day starts with a visit to the magnificent Potala Palace, the Dalai Lama's residence, and the place for political and religious affairs.

In the pictures, the way to an entrance, where many stones with carved prayers can be found.

The entire complex has about 1000 rooms, was built in the 7th century and expanded in the 17th century. The white and red palaces have respectively administrative and religious functions.

If you think to go inside the Potala Palace and take pictures... well, change your mind or destination. If the pictures are very important for you during your trips, then do not go there.

This is instead the older part, where many street vendors sell souvenirs for tourists, but also any kind of merchandize for locals.


	The Jokhang temple is the Tibet's oldest and is also the place from where Lhasa started to grow.
